Driven from our love for Greece, its exquisite islands, its clear, lucid waters, its rejuvenating light, we have chosen to make efforts and take over actions which promote a sensitive, positive and responsible approach of experiencing Greece and its rich natural attractions. We believe that such an approach will maximize the quality and positive effect of travelers’ experiences in Greece and will limit any negative effect. To this end, in the areas we are visiting we come as responsible and aware travelers, sensitive about the protection and sustainability of the environment and leaving behind a positive and never damaging footprint in the social, environmental or economic life.
SwiminGreece operates eco-swimming tours in areas of particular environmental interest, protected by the Natura 2000 network. Working with the local communities and teaming up with a number of nonprofit environmental NGOs, we introduce our guests to the current issues regarding the protection and maintenance of the environment.
More specifically, the swimming tour in the area of Sporades includes a special session at the offices of MOm, one of the most active and recognized Greek Non Governmental Organizations for the study and protection of the Mediterranean monk seal, during which our guests will be introduced to their aims and activities, will become aware of specific problems concerning the protection of monk seals, and will be informed on the sea areas where they can spot monk seals during their swims.
Moreover, we engage local people and locally owned businesses as much as possible in the whole range of our activities, we chose to collaborate with small, family owned lodgings and we try to build a long lasting relationship with the local communities, before and after our visits.
With all our choices and actions we wish to contribute to:
