The Big blue path - Amorgos

Αn island with wild beauty and unique atmosphere which remains memorable to all its visitors. The landscape is exceptionally rich and diverse: rocky, steep, treeless mountains appearing like touching the sky, crystal clear waters, tranquil beaches and an irresistibly picturesque Chora. It is the island where the BIG BLUE movie by Luc Besson was filmed.

amorgos in thumbDescription: One of the most spectacular swimming paths in Cyclades, along the southern coastline of Amorgos. It begins from the beach below the magnificent Xozoviotissa monastery and ends at Agia Anna beach. On windy days, the great sea depth creates a phenomenon where the waves break on the coast and rush back into the sea where they meet waves of the opposite direction. This phenomenon makes swimming very demanding, so when the weather is windy this route is recommended only to very experienced, well-trained open water swimmers. The view of the monastery is breathtaking and the rocky coastline is fascinating. The water is deep, cool and transparent.
